With over 40 years of legal experience, we understand the importance of listening closely to your needs. In our first meeting for estate planning, we explore and determine your specific situation, concerns and intentions. These are unique to your situation. In this process, we collaborate with you to create a plan that takes care of you and your family in the years to come.
Estate planning is planning for the future, addressing the known and putting into place contingencies to deal with the unknown. We take a very practical approach to dealing with your needs. It takes legal experience to discern the needs of our clients concerning their particular family's requirements. We use Wills and Revocable Living Trust to address the challenges that occur when a family member dies. It is essential that a spouse have a trust and understanding that a death is not going to precipitate a financial disaster or legal fiasco. Estate planning is needed to provide not only for your children when they are minors, but also must also be able to address the varying levels of maturity of family members as they enter adulthood, marry and become parents themselves. We have done this work for years. We pride ourselves on being able to concretely and effectively address the needs of your family.
An effective estate plan takes steps to avoid the probate process. There are a number of steps that can be taken BEFORE a death to keep legal issues to minimum. In many cases we are able to avoid the need for probate in the event of the death of the first spouse. Beneficiary Deeds, in some cases, can avoid the need for a probate at the time of the death of the last of the parents. However, these are not "one-size-fits-all" solutions and experienced and knowledgeable legal counsel is essential.
For many families, the need for filing a probate proceeding becomes necessary. Our office effectively represents families in the probate process. It need not be terribly expensive. It need not be an ordeal. We understand that we are often representing people who are not only dealing with the loss of their loved ones but also the sometimes difficult relationship dynamics of the remaining family members. We believe that we do an excellent job of listening and collaborating with families to reach fair and effective solutions.
